Flags, firemen, and familiar faces...

(A Rural Thursday entry)

Memorial Day 2012 revisited...some snapshots of a small-town parade to celebrate and honor our men in uniform...

93 degrees in full-dress uniform...that's dedication!

The VFW

The VFW Ladies Auxillary made sure to have their sun protection.

Proudly displaying his medals.

All patriotic songs...and they never skipped a beat!

A local beauty with a fabulous smile!
In the heat in full uniform and in heels!

Fireman-in-Training

Nothing  but smiles!
Probably one of the best Memorial Day parades in my small town.
Everyone had a great time!
Hope you enjoyed your holiday!

  1. That is one thing I don't miss about the military; wearing that uniform on hot days like that. (luckily I didn't have to wear a skirt and heels though). I love the color of that copper truck.

    1. Daryl, I was so busy socializing, I wish I had paid more attention to my camera settings. I have to check but I suspect I forgot to switch on the VR on the 28-300. Oh well...FUN ruled!

  11. Hey Kim! How are you? For these photos I used my Nikkor 28-300mm. I hadn't taken it out of the bag in a while but I saw some great shots on Daryl Edelstein's Through My Eyes blog and had to take it out for a spin. The lens gets a little heavy so I usually use it with a tripod. I also have a Tamron 18-270mm that I really like. Hope you and yours are well and thanks for stopping! Hugs!
